J. Michael Robbins Biography



Michael has performed with a variety of ensembles including brass bands and symphony orchestras in the South Eastern United States. He plays drums and percussion in the weekly worship services at Calvary Springs Community Church in Lexington, South Carolina. Michael has taught music to k-12 and adult student populations in the public schools, churches, continuing education programs in colleges and universities, music stores, at summer camps, and in the private studio. His musical research includes “An investigation of the use of percussion, a cross-cultural study” (2001); “Historical periods of music and how the culture of the day impacted the form and style.” (2001). He received the Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Arts in Teaching degrees from Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, FL where he was a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 444.
